OK, yes, yes, Cape Town is defintely cliquey with an old school networking vibe. There's the architect set, the advertising in-crowd, the independent designer clique, the actress slash waitress bunch, the Obs art scene and so many more. But you know what's so cool, it's art; in essence, the practise of it means its people from every walk of life mix and merge with each other and with the rest of us. They want to be seen and we want to see them. Or, at least, what they do.  Far from the last colonial outpost, the jealous and the inspired agree; Cape Town is bristling with creativity, which by definition is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality Why are Capetonians so inherently arty? I suppose because we're show-offs and snobs. The city's beautiful but so are its people. Our challenging history plays a part but bottom line is, if you're talking traditional and aesthetic and artistic expression then Cape Town is the place to be.
